My Story: Surviving the Holocaust
On Holocaust Remembrance Day, April 12, Garlands member and Holocaust survivor Steen Metz recounts his experience of survival, unspeakable loss, love, and standing up, rather than standing by.
Since Mr. Metz wrote his memoir, A Danish Boy in Theresienstadt, in 2011, he has presented his story at Brown University, on radio, TV, and to over 50,000 students in Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin. Mr. Metz is also a regular participant in presentations organized by The Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center and the Holocaust Museum and Education Center of Southwest Florida.
